S. FAUSTI - Jesus sends the disciples as the Father sent Him. The Father is always the source of the mission , in His mercy to all His children. The Son is the first sent. After Him, by Him and like Him those who have recognized Him as a brother , are sent. The Church feels apostolic (missionary), because it is called to continue the work of Jesus which, like that of the twelve in Israel and of the seventy to all peoples, constitutes a single mission. The mission has nothing to do with proselytizing. It borns from the love of the Father for all his children and ends in love of the children for the Father and for each other. It widens into a wider horizon to embrace the ends of the earth: it is the circle of the arms of the Father, which opens to tighten all His children without losing anyone , because He has not children to waste. The mission is an essential dimension of the Church. One realizes his nature of son to the extent by which he goes to all the brothers and sisters with the same love of the Father. The conditions of the mission of the seventy two like the one of the twelve, are the same of Jesus. The difference lies in the fact that He is the son who left the Father and He has "come" to look for his brothers. Instead the twelve are called and the seventy-two are "designated" to collaborate in his work. This mission, as from Israel goes up to the boundaries of the space, so to Jesus extends itself until the end of time. Then the Lord comes. "But it is first necessary that the Gospel be proclaimed to all nations" (Mark 13:10). The aim of the mission is not only the victory over evil and the return to the original state of Adam, king of creation, but especially the fact that the name of the disciples in the name of Jesus, it is written in the heavens, that is, in God. Jesus came to give us the joy of entering into His communion of Son with His Father. To the return of the mission, Jesus reveals its ultimate meaning. The path is clear only when it is already covered all! The color of the retourn is the joy, definitive gift of the workers. If "the harvest is a lot", now, in the valleys mantled with wheat, "everything sing and shout of joy" (Ps 65). The joy of the disciples makes itself rejoicing of Jesus because his knowledge of Son is revealed to the little ones.. This exultation of Him then rebounds into beatitude for the disciples, because their eyes see what their ears heard: the fulfillment of every promise and prophecy. Three times they speak of joy and for three reasons. First, the disciples rejoice in the victory over Satan, which takes place today, in their mission. The present history is without evil the eschatological struggle between the Archangel Michael and the Dragon (Rev. 12.7 to 12) happens already in the work of Jesus that the disciples continued in His name and under His glance. Secondly Jesus specifies that the mission is not only victory over satan that falls from its position of dominance. It 's also return to the original condition of the paradise, where the man resumes his role as Prince of the creation..No evil and no poison, not even death, can damage him and empoison his life. Thirdly they say the real reason for joy: the mission is not only victory over evil and return to the lost garden . It's especially"written " in the book of life, which contains a posting of God's people (Rev 3.5). it's the list of those who are part of his family. The names of those who are sent in His name and fulfilled their mission, they are fully entered in heavens, that is, in God, as Jesus himself, the first sent. Mary received the greeting: "Rejoice" because She conceived the Son of the Most High(Lk 1:47). Jesus is saying to his disciples: "Rejoice" because they entered with Him within the Father, and they can truthfully say: "Abba". Because this, each one according to his calling, we are all sent to witness the love of the Father to the brothers.
