  1. S.FAUSTI - Unlike Lazarus, the rich man is without name, his identity is the luxe of the dress and of the eating. But God knows the humbles and ignores those of hard-hearted. . The rich man in the Bible is a professed atheist. He made himself the center of everything, he placed himself in the place of God. He reminds for some ways Herod, dressed beautifully, who feasts (Mk 6:21) and swells making himself acclaim as a god.
He is the opposite of Jesus, who though rich that he was, became poor, emptied himself and became wretched.
Even the Father invites us to the banquet for his son lost and found, dead and risen. (Luke 15,23 ...).
But it is a party open to the poor and excluded. He comes to comfort those who remain outside.
The poor, who have nothing, needs God. It is their only help.
Lazarus is the figure of Jesus, the last of the poor, who has placed all his trust in the Father, the principle of His life.
God throws himself at the door of the rich to save them...
The Poor man indeed is the Lord. "The least among you, this is great" and "every time you did it to the least of my brethren, you did it to me." (Mt 25,40 .. .).
Giving to the poor, the rich gets his true richness and is welcomed into the eternal tents.
He that hath pity on the poor  landeth onto the Lord , Who will repay in his time for his part. The poor man is the same "God - that - helps" each of us to become His children, recognizing Lazarus as our brother.
The poor man doesn't remain prey of death. He is carried by the servants of God to Abraham, father of believers. It's with him, because he is like him. The poverty has made him similar to the father of faith, who has placed in God his safety of life.
The death reveals the dignity of the poor, those thrown at the door, hungry and wounded ones .
"The rich man also died and was buried." While Lazarus is  raised up on high,  , the one who has made of the ground his safety, this finds in it his grave. In his whole life he had as a pastor the death; now the hell is his home forever. The grave is the sinus of death, the opposite of Abraham's bosom, womb of living. .It is an underground place, like the den of the foxes. It is the abode of those who were clever according to the world, and he haven't gotten the eternal tents with dishonest mammon.

  2. -->From there he turned the eyes upward, towards the one whom he had never deigned to look. He doesn't say that the rich despise God or the poor.
Only that he had never looked them, because busy watching his own interest.
Finally the eyes are open to them. He sees the great distance that he had not previously perceived. This abyss is still crossed six times by the Word that asks and responds
to let people know what to do now.
This abyss has been dug certainly not by Abraham, who calls him "son." He had dug this , not recognizing his brother Lazarus.
"You had your fill of good things during your life," says Abraham to him.. Lazarus instead had only his fill of bad , and moreover not his !. Now the situation is reversed, and permanently.
We must "remember" this, because we are inclined to forget it.
The life earthly is the time allowed not to fix, but to cross the chasm between the rich and the poor men .
On this depends the salvation of the rich men.
The poor man , already saved by God who is at home with him, he saves those who welcome him, hosting these in his turn with him into everlasting habitations.
The arc of earthly life is an ephemeral bridge between destruction and salvation. The mercy towards the poor is the passage.
When the life ends, the time has concluded . To discern the signs of time is understand that the present time is given to us for this. All scripture, Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms talk about the Poor man sended to us to healing us with His wounds.
The real problem then is to believe the Word of God. It gives us the Mercy of the Father, and invites everyone to participate to His joy for His dead and risen Son.
As long as we are alive we are called to listen and not mock Him.
Even when he poses the alternative between God and mammon.
Those who believe in Him, welcome the love of the Father and love their brothers.
