All of us ,we do search to place our feet on a safe ground ,liable not to slide down. We all need, someone more and someone less ,of safety. Because we know the fear. You see, the fear is being on the alert, restless, in front of real or imaginary dangers. As much stronger it is the fear, as much the possible dangers are not well identifiable. Certainly it is true to say, that the fear walks with the courage. Fear and courage walk together. But we never have to forget that in our life, is it admitted or not, it lives the precariousness... Jesus, just before to die, warns us. These are words of truth. Jesus isn't afraid to speak of fears. "There will be signs in the cosmos, in the sun, in the moon, in the stars and din of the sea and the billows, and the men will die for the fear and for attends him of what must happen, the powers of the skies will be stunned, the men will die of fear."
You see that here there are not men which are particularly bad, they are men and women exactly like us. "The powers of the skies will be stunned." All this, all these words of Jesus certainly concern the end of the time. The cosmos is not eternal. But Jesus' words (we heard tonight) run over the times, beginning from ours. Jesus also speaks of our times. We are all in small or great upsettings that could invest our personal or family life or the whole society. It doesn't matter. The main point is that the reaction is always the same one. Scared surprise, increasing anguish, spread desperation. It's this way.
D.D. However Jesus warns us: "The powers of the skies will be stunned." We translate for a moment this word for us: what you wouldn't ever to be happened, it happens... When you see your stunned skies, when you don't know anymore the saint whom you should submit, when you have a family and you don't know how to maintain it anymore, these are the stunned skies. The so-called ones "of exodus" To try to believe friends. "The powers of the skies will be stunned." How believers we are situated inside this precariousness, of this fear, there are the cracks, the signs of a lot of crises. Here is our life belt in the middle of the din of the sea and the billows, in the middle of the powers of the sky upset inside of us so many times. How to do for believing in this at all? How we can do for trusting the words of Jesus? Jesus gives us some suggestions that are to be taken very seriously: "be careful that your hearts don't get heavy in dissipations, drunkenness and in the worries of life." The hope is the life belt. My life leans on the promises of God, anything happens. "You watch over in every moment by praying." We always need that suggestions for not to stay submerged in the upsettings that we all experiment. To watch over then, to fight for not falling in the dismay, in the fear, in the anguish. To watch over because God will never come less to His promises. To watch over praying, because this vigil of the faith is possible in the measure in which we all pray (some) more. In the measure in which the meeting between God and us strengthens, then we could be proud, lifting our soul up from the historical upsettings. Who prays holds into his hands the rudder of the boat that is life. The promises of God are the eternal fuel that allows us to sail safely.
r. Roger – Three letters to Young People. Very many people today aspire to live in a time of trust and of hope. In human beings there can be impulses toward violence. For trust to arise on earth we need to begin within ourselves, making our way forward with a reconciled heart, living in peace with those around us. Peace on heart is prepared insofar as we dare to ask ourselves : am I ready to seek inner peace and to go forward in selflessness? Even if I have very little, can I be a ferment of trust in my own situation, understanding others more and more? As we remain before God in quiet waiting, will we open ways of peacemaking wherever oppositions arise? When young people make a resolution for peace in their own life, they become bearers of a shining hope whose ligth radiates ever further ourward. At this time in history, the Gospel invites us to love and to say it by our existence. Faith becomes credible to those around us above all by the lives we lead. This is also true for the mystery of communion that the Body of Christ , His Church. A credibility that has often been lost can be rebourn when the Church lives in trust, forgiveness and compassion, and when it welcomes with joy and simplicity. It then succeeds in comunicating a living hope.
